Kaali Poster Controversy: Filmmaker Leena Manimekalai embroiled herself in some serious controversy after she released a poster of her documentary. The poster depicts Goddess Kaali smoking a cigarette and wielding an LGBTQ pride flag. The poster invited huge backlash as it hurt the religious sentiments of Hindu communities. Several FIRs have also been filed against Leena while she continues to receive abuses and threats on social media.

Meanwhile, Internet sensation Urfi Javed has expressed her opinion on the ongoing issue. During a media interaction, she opposed Leena as she said, “I always believe that religion is a very sensitive topic. People are very sensitive when it comes to religion. So, while making such posters or movies, we should be very mindful. We should also be very mindful before making any statement so that we don’t hurt religious sentiments. But also, freedom of speech is important. As long as I am not hurting anyone’s sentiments, I should be allowed to speak whatever I want against a particular individual.”

Meanwhile, Leena Manimekalai’s tweet has been taken down by Twitter India. In response to this, Leena tweeted, “This is hilarous. Will @TwitterIndia withhold the tweets of the 200000 hate mongers?! These lowlife trolls tweeted and spread the very same poster that they find objectionable. Kaali cannot be lynched. Kaali cannot be raped. Kaali cannot be destroyed. She is the goddess of death.”
