When Campus Beats Season 3 Director Palki Malhotra Designs Look For Trendsetter Shantanu Maheshwari

Shantanu Maheshwari is known as a trendsetter in the industry. Thus it was quite scary for director Palki Malhotra to opt  for something for him, as he is very particular and conscious of his look.

You guys must have remembered Swayam Shekhavat from the most popular youth serial, Dil Dosti Dance. Shantanu Maheshwari, who played this character, has been in talks for the last few months. Though after D3, this actor had not been seen on a large scale, he has set a trend with his fashion sense. Shantanu Maheshwari is known as a trendsetter in the industry. Recently, he has gone viral on social media because of his very recent web series, ‘Campus Beats’ season 3, which was released on December 5.

There have been lots of reels and promotional videos, and the previous season’s scenes are uproaring on social media because of its youth-centric content. Regardless of its release on a small OTT platform like Amazon Mini TV, youths are approaching this series because of Shantanu Maheshwari.

In teasers and trailers, we have seen Shantanu Maheshwari’s Hatake look. It is very trendy attire, which the director and costume designer have given to Ishaan, played by Shantanu Maheshwari.

Palki Malhotra, in an interview with Bollywood Life, described the entire procedure for creating Shantanu’s look as Ishaan. She mentioned the impression Shantanu has created in the fashion industry in the last few years with his extraordinary outfit. It was quite scary for her to opt  for something for him, as he is very particular and conscious of his look. Their internal team, along with the costume department and Shantanu, had a meeting to discuss his look, where Shantanu emphasized the Gen Z point.

Director Palki Malhotra said that “Campus Beats is slightly heavy on styling on fashion. Because there are Gen Z kids who are upmarket kids so the costumes of such upmarket Gen Z dancers is always tough to make.”

She continued saying, “One thing I was very sure was to make it gender neutral, so even if Ishaan’s character is tilting slightly towards alpha, we did not want to do that with his clothes and his styling. So we went for gender-neutral guts. We kind of bent rules into Shantanu’s styling. A lot of times you will see him carry crop tops, sheer navel necks, and ceratin jackets, which are oddly cut and asymmetrical jackets. His lowers/denims were all funky. So basically, we wanted to do something with Shantanu which he had not done before.”

His appearance in Campus Beats is actually something to which Gen Z can relate and has already been loved by many.
