Of the 6 episodes, the Nithya Menen and Revathy played episode has been acclaimed by the viewers. Read to know why!

Modern Love Hyderabad, an anthology that’s available to stream on Amazon Prime, has been winning the audience’s hearts with its unique and refreshing storytelling and cast. The series was inspired by the famous New York Times column, the series showcases 6 stories of different individuals set in the beautiful city of Hyderabad.

Although all 6 episodes of the series have garnered much love and appreciation from the viewers, it’s the first episode that goes by the title ‘My unlikely pandemic partner’ that has received much recognition from the audiences. Essayed by veteran actress Revathy and Nithya Menen, the duo play the characters of an estranged mother and daughter named Mehrunissa and Noorie respectively.

The Nagesh Kukunoor-directed episode has so far the most acclaimed episode of the series, thanks to the actors’ unique storyline and top-notch acting skills. The episodes reveal how the pandemic-induced lockdown forces the mother-daughter duo to grow closer again after a fallout in their relationship. The closeness makes them forget their bitter past and gives them a chance to rekindle their relationship.

Although actress Nithya doesn’t believe so, in her opinion, the best episode of the series was the one played by South actress Suhasini Maniratnam. She said, “I honestly liked Suhasini’s (ma’am’s) piece the best of the entire lot, I found it quite heartwarming and the way she enacted the role is something I could not have done. It was quite brilliant”

The episode played by Nithya and Revathy has been much talked about, also because of the extraordinary way the actresses have portrayed their parts. The part that was relatable to some audiences while others found it extremely heart-touching, is the way the story revolves around a mother who’s upset as her daughter, against her will, has married a man of a different religious belief, yet makes sure to be there for her daughter after surgery, that ends their short-lived animosity forever. “We were supposed to work together years ago. Anjali Menon offered us a film which never really took off so it was a long time in the coming. My mother looks similar to Revathy ma’am so we look like real-life mother and daughter onscreen” shared Nithya.

The characters Noorie and Mehrunissa not just set examples but also depict the truly strong women, that society often neglects to notice. “There are lots of strong women portrayed on screen these days but I do not agree with this classification of women being either strong or weak. The women you see on screen are those who we see around us. We know such people and the idea is not to showcase strong but real women” she said.
