Hollywood star Will Smith is going to host a stand- a show called “This Joka” in 16 episodes. The series will feature new and existing comedians and a combination of stand-up sets, one-on-one interactions between Smith and backstage and around Las Vegas comics and documentary footage.
Baron Vaughn, Megan Gailey, Punkie Johnson, Sean Patton, Rosebud Baker, Shane Torres, Clayton English, Christi Chiello, Vanessa Gonzalez, Martin Urbano, Sam Tallent, David Gborie, Jackie Fabulous, Chris Estrada, Rell Battle, and Daphnique Springs are the comedians included at the show. George Wallace, Shawn Wasabi and Demi Adejuyigbe will make “guest appearances.”
The project is from Westbrook Studios and Topgolf Entertainment Company of Smith. The latter Las Vegas outlet will act as one of the venues for the show, hollywoodreporter.com reports. “Will’s passion and admiration for stand-up comedy run deep and we hope to uncover, learn from and elevate the next generation of multicultural comedic talent with this series on Quibi.
The goal of ‘This Joka’ is not just to laugh but to find the universal human truth behind the laughter, “said Terence Carter, co-president of Westbrook Studios. Smith and Carter are executive producers of” This Joka “with Miguel Melendez, Brad Haugen, Lukas Kaiser, Erik Anderson, Chad Nelson, and YuChiang Cheng. Lance Bangs is on board to direct.
