According to the reports, in the year 2016, this dress was sold at an auction to Ripley’s Believe It or Not for nearly $5 million. The dress contains more than 2,500 handstitched crystals making it shining and attractive.
While expressing gratitude, Kim shared a few pictures of her wearing the gorgeous dress on Instagram. Alongside the snaps, she penned, “Met Gala… In America: An Anthology of Fashion. I am so honoured to be wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy.”
The Kardashians star continues, “It is a stunning skintight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costumier Jean Louis. Thank you Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for giving me the opportunity to debut this evocative piece of fashion history for the first time since the late Marilyn Monroe wore it.”
