Three British Shows To Watch In November

1. Honourable Woman

“The Honourable Woman” is an eight-part political thriller written, directed and produced by BAFTA-winning writer Hugo Blick, and marks Maggie Gyllenhaal’s first move into TV. Set against the present-day backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, The Honourable Woman explores a range of complex and provocative themes of conflict, deception and betrayal on both a personal, human level as well as on the international and political stage. The British TV show centres around Nessa Stein (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is deeply troubled about past events that have haunted her. Nessa Stein is constantly battling a consuming internal conflict – for reconciliation with her past and her search for personal equilibrium. This struggle is manifested in her political activities, trying to reconcile a conflict that has equally haunted a region of the world, countless lives and political agendas for many years.

2. The Press

Written by award-winning playwright, Mark Bartlett (who also wrote Doctor Foster), “Press” is a six-part drama set in the world of newspapers It will immerse viewers in the personal lives and the constant professional dilemmas facing its characters. The series follows their lives as they attempt to balance work and play, ambition and integrity, amid the never-ending pressure of the 24-hour global news cycle and an industry in turmoil.

It stars an ensemble of superb British talents which includes Charlotte Riley, Ben Chaplin and Priyanga Burford.

3. Brexit: The Uncivil War

Benedict Cumberbatch stars in this timely and compelling behind-the-scenes drama about the Brexit referendum campaign. Written by award-winning writer James Graham, “Brexit: The Uncivil War” follows the campaign from the perspective of the largely unknown strategists in both the leave and remains camps as they plot to gain an advantage over each other while dealing with politicians jostling for the limelight and controversial financial backers
