Squid Game Actor O Yeong-Su Charged With “Sexual Misconduct”

Actor O Yeong-Su who played the role of an old man named Oh Il-nam in Squid Games was recently charged with sexual misconduct.

Squid Game is one of the most popular Korean web series which is known worldwide. Actor O Yeong-Su who played the role of an old man named Oh Il-nam in the web series was recently charged with sexual misconduct. The officials stated that the 78-year-old is accused of touching a woman inappropriately in 2017.

As per a BBC report, the O Yeong-Su has denied all the allegations of sexual misconduct. However, the alleged victim had already filed a complaint against the actor in December 2021. However, her case was dropped in the month of April without a charge being brought against the Squid Games actor.

Meanwhile as per the latest reports is now believed that the case is now finally getting reopened purely at the request of the victim and the Squid Game actor has been charged without any detention.

The case has undoubtedly left a huge mark on the actor’s professional career as now Seoul’s culture ministry has decided to stop broadcasting a government commercial feature that was broadcasting O Yeong-Su.

On the other hand, the Squid Game actor has denied all the allegations of sexual harassment when he was asked by the prosecutors. In a statement, Mr Yeong-su said, “I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake”. Speaking to Korean news broadcaster JTBC, he added, “I apologized because (the person) said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges”. 

Korean actor O Yeong-Su was born in the year 1944 in Kaesong. He started his professional career in acting in the year 1967. Apart from Squid Game the actor has been known for his role as an old monk in Kim Ki-Duk’s film “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring.”
