Spider-Man Actor Tom Holland Reveals He Does Not Like Hollywood: ‘The Business Aspect Really Scares Me,’ Says Actor

The Actor In A YouTube Show Also Spoke About His Alcohol Problem

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland recently revealed in an interview with the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast that he doesn’t like Hollywood.

“I am a huge fan of making movies, but I really don’t like Hollywood. It’s not for me,” confessed the 27-year-old actor. “The business aspect really scares me. I understand that I’m a part of that business, and I enjoy my interactions with it. However, I am always looking for ways to distance myself from it and live as normal a life as possible.”

Holland began his acting career at the age of nine and gained fame with his role in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The actor also opened up about his struggles with alcohol and how he became sober. “I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to give up drinking. Like many Brits, I had a very boozy December during the Christmas season while on vacation. I’ve always had the ability to consume a lot of alcohol, and I attribute that to my mom’s genes.”

Holland revealed that he initially committed to abstaining from alcohol for the month of January but found it incredibly challenging. “All I could think about was having a drink. It consumed my thoughts. I would wake up fixated on it and check the clock, waiting for it to reach noon,” he shared.

Feeling overwhelmed by the desire to drink, Holland extended his period to February. However, even after two months, he continued to struggle, feeling restricted in social situations. “I felt like I couldn’t be social. I couldn’t go to the pub and have a lime soda. I couldn’t go out for dinner,” he acknowledged, recognizing the influence of British drinking culture. As a result, he decided to extend his pact to abstain from alcohol for six months.

During this period, Holland began to notice the positive aspects of not drinking. “By the time June 1 rolled around, I was the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. I experienced improved sleep, better problem-solving abilities, and an enhanced ability to handle setbacks. I had mental clarity and felt healthier and fitter,” he explained.
