He’s reminding the detractors that Ken has never enjoyed popularity in the Barbie universe. Ken has no compelling backstory and only enhances the aesthetic. Given that nobody has ever respected Ken before, the “La La Land” actor is startled by the righteousness of fans. Since Ken has no fanfare to begin with, the viewer is not intended to care about him.
