Rachel Zegler recently gives fans a quick tour of the new Hunger Games movie set. The West Side Story actress was featured in a TikTok and takes fans behind the curtain of the upcoming prequel to the popular Hunger Games franchise, titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
The video shows Rachel walking through the set and showing off some of the cast, including Peter Dinklage, and Tom Blyth in character. Zegler starred as the lead character Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from District 12. The actress also shared the clip on her Twitter, writing, “i visited set to watch viola be awesome and somehow became the official tour guide keep an eye out for some fun content captured by the one and only reece feldman from now until release.”
The video starts off with Zegler in the middle of a room set up to be a high school classroom in the Capitol, with the crew working on putting together the set behind her. The audience then gets a quick glimpse of Dinklage, who plays Casca Highbottom, the dean of the Capitol’s most prestigious high school, Academy, in character.
The BTS video also featured Blyth, who stars as a young President of Coriolanus Snow. Meanwhile, in one scene, he was seated behind Dinklage during what appeared to be a lecture. The camera then moves to the actor sipping coffee, with his blonde hair styled into luscious curls.
For the unversed, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds is the prequel to the extraordinarily successful Hunger Games franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth. The film takes place 64 years before Katniss Everdeen becomes a District 12 tribute.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes explores the early days of the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, who is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games on the immediate horizon, Snow is concerned when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12.
Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake. Other Hollywood heavyweights have been cast in the upcoming blockbuster to bring Susan Collins’ characters to life. Viola Davis will play Dr Volumnia Gaul, Hunter Schafer is Tigris Snow, and Jason Schwartzman has been cast as Lucretius Flickerman. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to hit theatres on November 17, 2023.
