Priyanka Chopra Comes In Support Of Iranian Women Over Anti-Hijab Protest

Priyanka Chopra extends support to Iranian women protesting for Mahsa Amini. The actress shares a long note on her Instagram, take a look-

Bollywood Actress Priyanka Chopra recently shared a long note as she came out in support of the Iranian women who are currently protesting over the death of Mahsa Amini. Extending support to the women in Iran the actress urged her fans and audience to come in support of the women in the protest. Here’s what she wrote-

Recently actress Priyanka Chopra shared a long post on her Instagram, the post featured a pictorial representation of Mahsa Amini. Sharing the post Priyanka wrote, “Women in Iran and around the world are standing up and raising their voices, publicly cutting their hair and many other forms of protest for Mahsa Amini, whose young life was taken away so brutally by the Iranian Morality Police for wearing her hijab ‘improperly’. The voices that speak after ages of forced silence, will rightfully burst like a volcano! And they will not and MUST not be stemmed.”

She further added, “I am in awe of your courage and your purpose. It is not easy to risk your life, literally, to challenge the patriarchal establishment and fight for your rights. But, you are courageous women doing this every day regardless of the cost to yourselves. “

Asking her fans and audience to join the movement, she wrote, “To ensure that this movement will have a lasting effect, we must hear their call, understand the issues and then join in with our collective voices. We must also get everyone who can influence others to join as well. Numbers matter. Add your voice to this critical movement. Stay informed and be vocal, so these voices can no longer be forced to stay silent. I stand with you. Jin, jiyan , azaadi… Women, life, freedom.”

Who Was Mahsa Amini? What Is Anti-Hijab Protest All About?

Mahsa Amni who was of Kurdish origin was taken into custody by police while she was leaving a railway suburb with her brother and family. As per the reports, it was claimed that Mahsa was arrested for breaching Iran’s dress code. Officials claimed that Mahsa didn’t cover her head and hair with her head scarf (hijab) properly. Later it was reported that she collapsed while she was in custody for 3 days.

Following the same, a huge segment of women across Iran gathered for a protest and demanded for justice for Mahsa. What remained a highlight is that most of the women along with many actors from different industries came out to support as they chopped their hair off.
