The 45-year-old actor and his wife, actress Nikki Reed, embarked on a journey away from the city lights, choosing a farm just outside Los Angeles as their new abode for raising their two children.
Somerhalder expressed his contentment with the decision, stating to E News, “I loved what I did for a really long time. I don’t miss any of it. I love making films, and I just did it for so long. We had an amazing run.” This move marks a conscious shift away from the spotlight for the couple, who have decided to prioritize a quieter, more sustainable lifestyle.
At the Los Angeles premiere of “Common Ground,” a documentary focused on the importance of sustainable and eco-friendly farming, Reed shared insights into their newfound life on the farm. Reflecting on the natural rhythms of farm life, she said, “When you see the way that nature operates, you find compassion. It’s a beautiful thing to see what’s happening with children, to watch them participate in the growing of their food and the understanding of what food is and where it comes from.”

It’s an evolution and a lifelong pursuit,” she explained. Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, who began dating in 2014 and exchanged vows in the following year, are proud parents to their daughter Bodhi Soleil, aged 6, and a son, whose arrival they joyfully announced in June.
