Geri Horner Opens Up About Loneliness And Stress As Single Mom

Spice Girls star Geri Horner has admitted she felt "lonely" when she was raising her daughter Bluebell as a single mum and insisted the experience of bringing up her son Monty with her husband Christian has been a very different experience.

Geri Horner, known for her time with the Spice Girls, shared her experience of feeling “lonely” and “stressed” while raising her daughter, Bluebell, as a single mother. The Spice Girls star gave birth to her now 17-year-old daughter in 2005 after splitting from Bluebell’s father, Sacha Gervasi.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s ‘Happy Mum Happy Baby’ podcast, Geri reflected on the challenges of single motherhood, saying, “Being a single parent, as a mother, you don’t have to answer to anyone, but it’s all on you. And that can be quite stressful, and you have to be responsible. All the responsibilities are on you in every way. Broad shoulders are needed, and sometimes it’s lonely.”

In 2017, Geri welcomed her second child, son Monty, with her husband Christian Horner, which brought a different dynamic to her parenting experience. She noted, “So I’ve experienced that [being a single mother]. And then, you know, having the blessing of having a lovely husband or partner, which I’ve experienced. That’s amazing. So it’s not all on you, but then you’ve got to compromise, we might have, you know, we’re all different in the way we think things should be done. So learning to be a team, which has been a challenge for me.”

Geri and Christian Horner, head of Red Bull’s Formula One team, began dating in 2014 and married a year later. Christian humorously shared his initial encounter with Geri, recalling an unexpected handshake rather than a kiss on the cheek when they first met. Their paths eventually led to a romantic relationship, sparked during a clay pigeon shoot at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, England.
