Joker Star Joaquin Phoenix & Rooney Mara Welcome Baby Boy!
The 45-year-old Oscar-winning actor and his fiancée, Rooney Mara, who is too an Oscar-nominated actress, welcomed their first child together, a son named River.
It was revealed a few months earlier that Joquin Pheonix and Rooney Mara were expecting their first child and that Carol Star was six months pregnant at that time.
At the 2020 Zurich Film Festival screening of his film, for which Joaquin is the executive producer, Gunda director Victor Kossakovsky announced the good news.
According to Just Jared, during the Q&A session, Victor said, “He just got a baby, by the way. His name was… a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote it now.” While the pair didn’t confirm their son’s birth or even they never first confirmed the pregnancy.
Nevertheless, the name of the baby boy has a particular meaning as it is a tribute to the elder brother of Joaquin, River Phoenix, who tragically passed away in 1993 at the young age of 23.
How Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara met?
At the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, Mara, 35, and Phoenix met on the set of the 2013 movie ‘Her’ and made their red carpet debut as a couple.
When Phoenix received the best actor award for his role in You Were Never Really Here, the pair were seen talking and embracing lovingly during the latter event.
“They were talking to one another nonstop,” according to the sources. “Small talk between them. Then they went for their car and he’s holding her hand like it was unconscious. Like it fits. They seem a totally natural and easy couple.”
When the couple made it official?
Last year, when The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actress was spotted sporting a huge diamond ring on her left hand, the two made headlines and linkup rumours started doing rounds that time.
“She’s the only girl I ever looked up on the internet,” She’s the only person I’ve ever looked up on the internet. We were just friends, email friends.”
Yet, Phoenix couldn’t help but want to know more about the actress even as “just friends.” While talking about the same he said in an interview “I’d never done that. Never looked up a girl online.”

For the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards, where Phoenix took home prestigious lead actors trophies at each ceremony for his performance in Joker, Phoenix and Mara stepped out together earlier this year.
Phoenix won the TIFF Tribute Actor Award at the Toronto International Film Festival last year in September, and while his acceptance speech he honoured his late brother River Phoenix and thanked his fiancée Mara for her support.
“One last thing — somewhere here, I don’t know where, is a filthy dragon, and I want to rip its wings off and fasten a blanket and sleep with it forever,” he said. “I love you. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, the news is obviously a happy one but fans are waiting for the coupe to confirmed the news. Well, we can’t wait to see adorable pictures of the newborn already!
