When Kader Khan Was Asked To Call Amitabh “Sir Ji,” He Refused, And That Ended Their Friendship

Kader Khan revealed how he was unable to address Amitabh Bachchan as "sir ji," adding that it was because of this that they were no longer friends anymore.

There was a time when Kader Khan and Amitabh Bachchan were very good friends; they have worked together on many projects. Khan has also written Sawand for Amitabh’s films, which also had the laser-sharp dialogues for which the late actor was known. However, things changed for the worse.

Once Kader Khan revealed how he was unable to address Amitabh Bachchan as “sir ji,” adding that it was because of this that they were no longer friends anymore. In the same interview, Khan also said that after this, he stepped away or wasn’t part of many films featuring Bachchan.He said that it was impossible for him to call Amitabh by any other name, as he was a friend and brother to him.

In a video of an old interview shared by a Reddit user, Kader said he used to refer to Amitji as Amit. A producer from the South Indian film industry asked him, “Did you meer sirji? Kedar asked, Who, sir?” Then the person said, “You don’t know, sirji, that tall man.” Amitji was coming from the other side. The late actor said, That’s Amit; since when did he become Sirji?” And everybody started calling him Sirji.”

He couldn’t say sirji, and he was out of that group. Kader said how can a person can call their friend or brother by some other name. He said, “I couldn’t do that, and maybe because of that, he didn’t have that connection with him later. That’s why I wasn’t there in Khuda Gawah; as I wrote, only half of Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswati. There were other films that I had begun working on, but I quit.”
