When Emraan Hashmi And Mallika Sherawat Got Into An Ugly Spat Over A Bo*d Kissing Scene In ‘Murder’

Emraan Hashmi made some controversial remarks about Mallika Sherawat on the talk show "Koffee With Karan," which sparked the start of their cold war.

In addition to his roles in Bollywood films, actor Emraan Hashmi is famously recognized as the “Serial Kisser.” His intense on-screen kisses contributed to his moniker as the “serial kisser.” Anurag Basu’s romantic comedy “Murder,” one of his notable sensual thrillers, propelled Emraan into instant stardom. The film showcased numerous private and lip-locking moments between Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat. Their scorching on-screen chemistry ignited a flurry of gossip during that period. However, not widely known, following the movie’s release, a heated altercation ensued between Emraan and Mallika.

According to reports, the two actors exhibited a frosty demeanor and consistently seized opportunities to taunt each other. The genesis of their cold war can be traced back to Emraan’s contentious remarks about Mallika on the talk show “Koffee With Karan.” The show’s host, Karan Johar, inquired about the best and worst on-screen kisses Emraan had encountered. Interestingly, the Jannat actor asserted that Jacqueline Fernandez’s kiss in the movie “Murder 2” surpassed Mallika’s in the original “Murder,” designating the latter as his least favored on-screen kiss. Not only that, but when he was asked what he would find in Mallika’s bedroom. He left shocked, saying, “An Idiot’s Guide to Succeeding in Hollywood.”

Mallika Sherawat was visibly infuriated by Emraan’s comment, and she retaliated by stating in an interview that the snake she kissed in her film “Hisss” was a more adept kisser than Emraan.

Their verbal splat became a recurring topic in numerous gossip columns, until the 44 year-old  actor eventually shushed the controversy by clarifying that his sentiments towards Mallika were not rooted in hatred. He emphasized that their lack of communication post-production of “Murder” led to their distant interactions. Emraan further explained that both he and Mallika had been deeply engrossed in their individual lives, thereby not closely following each other’s journeys.

Murder, produced by Mahesh Bhatt, was a hit at the box office. The movie was released on April 2, 2004.
