When Anupam Kher Threatened Bengali Actress Rita Koiral For Wife Kirron Kher: “I Will See How You Work In…”

When Anupam Kher threatened the Bengali actress, "If you don't accept my offer, you won't be able to come to work in Mumbai for life.

The nepotism and Bollywood Boycott trend started when Bollywood’s talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput took his own life. Those actors who have had their fathers and grandfathers hands on their heads since childhood, who get opportunities very easily, never escape from the netizens’ target.

After Sushant’s death, clips of Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, and other actors came to the fore, making fun of Sushant on none other than gossiper Karan Johar’s chit-chat show Koffee With Karan.

Many celebs came out in support of the late actor and raised their voices about nepotism going on in the industry, including Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, and others. Anupam shared a video on his Instagram handle to express his regret for the malpractice industry teetering under and demanded that talented youth not let the unfortunate incident discourage them and keep reaching Mumbai to pursue their Bollywood dreams.

And in the meantime, a controversy related to Anupam Kher came to the fore in 2000, which defeated everyone.

So it happened that, in 2000, Anupam’s wife Kirron Kher’s Bengali film Bariwali was released, and people loved the film so much. The film was produced by Anupam and nominated for the National. As Kirron struggled with the Bengali language, actress Rita Koirala was roped in to dub for her. Since then, controversies have started over the film.

While Kirron’s name emerged as the contender for the National Award for Best Actress, the nomination got stuck in limbo for a while because the Award couldn’t be accorded to actors if they had used dubbing artists.

Rita Koiral accused Anupam Kher of flexing his muscles to secure the award for his wife, Kirron. Before the award was given out, she alleges Anupam Kher called to see whether she had gotten her cash for the dubbing and to ask how much she had earned. Kher promised her additional money when she admitted receiving her payment, this time in exchange for her keeping quiet about having been dubbed for Kirron Kher in the film. Rita claims that Kher used browbeating to get her to accept the offer.

He warned her, “If you don’t accept my offer, you won’t be able to come to work in Mumbai for life. I will see how you work in Tollywood too.”
Everything was settled, and Kirron Kher took home her National Award for Best Actress.

Years later, the director of the film, Rituparno Ghosh, accepted that Rita Koiral had indeed lent her voice to the leading lady.

Now, years later, a video of the Bengali actress revealing the dark truth about Anupam Kher is making the rounds on the internet, as eagle-eyed Reddit user BollyBlindsNGossip shared. As soon as the video was shared, netizens started brutally trolling him and calling him a certified hypocrite.
