On Tuesday, Nana Patekar attended the trailer launch of his next film The Vaccine War. Nana will be seen playing a pivotal role in Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial. At the event, Nana was asked about his removal from Welcome franchise. Nana Patekar played the iconic role of Uday Shetty in the comedy film Welcome. As the third installment of the film was announced recently, fans couldn’t ignore Nana Patekar’s absence from the teaser. People also slammed the markers for not casting Nana in the film.

Reacting to the same, he said, “I am not a part of it, maybe they think hum bahut puraane ho gaye hai (I have become outdated).”

Pointing towards Vivek Agnihotri, the director of The Vaccine War, Nana said, “He doesn’t think I have become so old, so he cast me in his film. It’s that simple.”

In The Vaccine War, Nana Patekar plays the role of Balram Bhargava, former director general of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), who was involved in dealing with the pandemic and was part of the country’s Covid working group. The film also features Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen and Anupam Kher. It will be released in theatres on Sep 28.

Talking about Welcome 3, the cast includes Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda etc. It will be released on 20th December, 2024.
