Shefali Shah faced trolling after sharing the trailer of “The Kerala Story,” which was produced by her husband, Vipul Shah. During an interview with The Indian Express, when asked whether she would consider a role in the film if offered, Shefali shared her perspective.
Shefali discussed the trolling she received for sharing the trailer, saying, “I don’t have anything to do with politics. I usually receive a lot of love and respect on social media. I shared the trailer of ‘The Kerala Story,’ and I cannot tell you how badly I got trolled for it. People seemed to turn against me overnight.”
Shefali also expressed her willingness to be a part of “The Kerala Story,” stating, “If I was offered a role with evidence, why not? It is as important a story to be told as ‘Delhi Crime.’ But if there was no evidence, and if it was purely imaginary, I would be very cautious. However, I know for a fact that there was evidence. I have read the script and reviewed all the statements that have come from the government, so why not? I would have taken the role even if it was a Hindu woman. To me, it was about a woman, not about a religion; it was about terrorists,” she affirmed.
Regarding the film “The Kerala Story,” it garnered Rs 203 crore at the domestic box office. Directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma in the lead role, the film explores the forced conversions and recruitment of women from Kerala by the terrorist organization, the Islamic State (IS). The movie also features Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani in its cast and has ignited a divisive political debate in the country.
