Veteran Actress Seema Deo Passes Away At The Age Of 83

Seema Deo's Illustrious Career Included Notable Films Such As Anand, Koshish, And Kora Kagaz

Veteran actress Seema Deo passed away on August 24 at the age of 83, Her son, Abhinay Deo, confirmed the sad news to Indian Express, stating, “Mom passed away earlier today. She was fine, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but otherwise she was fine.”

In 2020, Abhinay had openly shared his mother’s medical condition, tweeting, “My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of the Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. We, the entire Deo family, have been praying for her well-being, and we wish the entire Maharashtra, who loved her so much, also prays for her well-being.”

Seema Deo’s illustrious career included notable films such as “Anand,” “Koshish,” and “Kora Kagaz.” Beyond Bollywood, she held a prominent position in Marathi cinema, starring in movies like “Jagachya Pathivar” and “Vardakshina.”

Her husband, Ramesh Deo, had tragically passed away in 2022 due to a heart attack. In a 2011 interview with Indian Express, Ramesh Deo fondly recounted their first meeting on a local train. He was captivated by the fragrance of mogra (jasmine) that Seema was wearing in her hair. He attributed his significant breakthrough in the film industry to the day they met. Their marriage in 1963 endured for an impressive 59 years.

Seema Deo’s legacy as an accomplished actress, her enduring partnership with Ramesh Deo, and her contributions to both Bollywood and Marathi cinema will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
