Sunil Shetty Raises Concern Over Soaring Prices Of Tomatoes, Says ‘It Also Had An Impact On Our Kitchen’

Sunil Shetty Expresses Concern As Soaring Tomato Prices Affect His Kitchen

Even Bollywood has not been untouched by the soaring prices of tomatoes, and actor Sunil Shetty has expressed his concern over the rising costs. In an interview with Aaj Tak, the actor stated, “My wife Mana and I follow a principle of purchasing vegetables for only a day or two, emphasizing the importance of consuming fresh produce. However, the recent surge in tomato prices has also affected our kitchen. Consequently, I find myself consuming fewer tomatoes these days. It’s a misconception that being a superstar shields me from such matters. In reality, we also have to face and manage these challenges.”

He also mentioned that he orders vegetables from an app, stating, “Upon examining the prices listed on these applications, you’ll be amazed. They are more cost-effective compared to physical stores or markets. I use the app for ordering not just because of affordability but primarily because they offer fresh produce. As a restaurateur myself, I have always negotiated for the best prices. Unfortunately, due to the rising costs of tomatoes, people have been forced to compromise on flavor and quality. Regrettably, I find myself in the same situation,” the actor added.

Currently, the prices of tomatoes in the retail market range between ₹120 and ₹150 per kilogram, which is a burden on people’s wallets.
