Actress Sulagna Panigrahi recently played a small role in Rishi Kapoor’s last film ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. Rishi Kapoor died due to Cancer in April 2020 and his role in the film was completed by Paresh Rawal. ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ was released on Amazon Prime Video in March 2022.
Recently, Sulagna shared her experience of working on the film. She said, “It is a special film for me because I got to work with the great Rishi Kapoor Ji. He was such a fabulous actor and working with him was like a dream come true. And in the same film, I got a chance to work with Paresh Rawal Ji too. I am a big fan of him. Andaz Apna Apna and Hera Pheri are my favourite films. I consider myself extremely lucky that I got to work with such great actors.”
Talking about Rishi Kapoor’s sad demise, Sulagna Panigrahi said, “It was extremely painful for us. It was already a bad time due to Covid-19 and then we got this bad news. So, it was very painful. We can just consider ourselves blessed that we did get to work with him.”
Happy to have shared screen space with Juhi Chawla, Sulagna said, “Juhi Chawla is my favourite actress since childhood. She is so down-to-earth, sweet and humble. If you praise her a lot, she won’t like it. So, I didn’t showcase my fangirl moment in front of her. But I am a big fan of her.”
Sulagna made her Television debut in 2007 as she played a lead in the television serial Amber Dhara. In 2010, she was seen in TV serials ‘Do Saheliyaan’ and ‘Bidaai’. In 2011, she made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Murder 2’. She tied the knot with stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath in 2020. She is currently playing the lead role in StarPlus historical drama, titled Vidrohi.
