The sudden demise of Bollywood’s veteran actor Rishi Kapoor sent a shockwave across the entertainment industry. Everyone mourned on the death of the late versatile actor whose absence will forever be felt. Rishi Kapoor passed away at the age of 67 in Mumbai after battling with leukemia for 2 years.

However, the late actor had certain upcoming ventures in his kitty which are now left hanging post his demise. He was going to star in the much-awaited remake of the Hollywood film ‘The Intern’ opposite Deepika Padukone. Rishi Kapoor was supposed to play the role originally essayed by Robert de Niro in the remake.

Meanwhile, according to the sources, the makers are thinking to re-cast and the film’s co-producer and actor Deepika Padukone and Sunir Khetrapal have also taken their calls to reconsider the casting.

The source revealed, “Deepika plays the female lead in this story set in the fashion world. For the intern’s role, the choice was between Amitabh Bachchan Saab and Chintuji (Rishi Kapoor). Deepika had already done a fabulous film Piku with Bachchan Saab. She had for long wanted to share screen space with Chintuji. And the remake of The Intern was the perfect opportunity.”

But now post Rishi Kapoor’s demise it seems like the venture would have to either opt to be stalled or re-cast. And if we believe the hearsay, the latter has been taken into consideration.

Speaking of The Intern, it was released in 2015 and featured Anna Hathaway and Robert de Niro as the lead. Well, now the question arises who will take up the part played by Robert de Niro in the film’s Bollywood remake.
