Gully Boy, helmed by Zoya Akhtar and features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has been selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars this year. It has been one heck of a week for Zoya as the news of Gully Boys entry at the Oscars came a few weeks after her Lust Stories was shortlisted for the Emmy’s. It is now reported that Zoya is gearing up to put her next project together.
A source close to Zoya told an entertainment portal, “Zoya has always been criticised for making elitist movies. She proved everyone wrong when she made Gully Boy. Now, she’s writing another script in a similar space and milieu. But it’s a gangster drama that she has been planning for some time now.”
It is also reported the idea of the film is ready and it has also been okayed by an A-list actor. The source further stated, “Zoya has offered the gangster flick to her favourite Ranveer Singh already. He has heard the concept and is really keen on doing it as well. He has verbally given his nod and this will be his third film with Zoya after Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy.”
Currently, the dates are being finalised to roll the film, Talking about the same the source further stated that Ranveer who is wrapping up his shoot for Kabir Khan’s 83 will soon begin filming for YRF’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar. And soon after the completion of YRF’s film, he will get busy filming for Karan Johar’s Takht from next February. So his dates are being figured out so they could move ahead with the gangster saga. But there is no confirmation from Ranveer or Zoya about the same!
