Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has a history of delivering blockbusters and successful franchises like Krrish, starring his son Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the fourth installment of Krrish, but recent media reports suggest that they will have to wait a little longer.
In a conversation with India Today, Rakesh Roshan shed light on the delay of Krrish 4, attributing it to the hesitant return of the audience to theaters. He expressed concern over the fact that the audience has not fully returned to cinema halls, which poses a significant question mark for the release of the film.
Rakesh acknowledged that Krrish 4 is expected to be a grand production, but the challenge lies in creating a movie that matches the standards set by Hollywood superhero films. While Hollywood productions enjoy budgets of around $500-600 million, Krrish 4 has a comparatively smaller budget of ₹200-300 crore. Despite this constraint, the filmmaker emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality VFX and action sequences that align with audience expectations.
He elaborated on the dilemma of balancing the production costs while delivering a visually appealing and engaging movie. Although the team is prepared to move forward with the project, they are currently cautious due to the underperformance of some big-budget films in the current market.
“It is going to happen, but not for a year. Probably after that”, the filmmaker said.
Krrish 4 was initially announced in 2018, with a scheduled release date of Christmas 2020. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the film has faced delays.
While fans may have to wait a little longer for the much-anticipated superhero movie, Rakesh Roshan assured that Krrish 4 will eventually hit the screens. The team is committed to delivering an exceptional cinematic experience, but they are currently taking a cautious approach to ensure the film’s success in the current unpredictable box office landscape.
