In the season of remakes in Bollywood, R Madhavan’s debut movie Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein is on the cards. The actor won millions of hearts with his amusing acting and charismatic look. Madhavan, who is all set for the release of his upcoming movie Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, was asked to share his views on the remake of RHTDM. The newbie director opined that it would be foolishness, yet he suggested actors for the cast if the movie is still to be made.
Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein abbreviated to RHTDM is itself a remake of the Tamil movie Minnale directed by Gautham Menon. Interestingly Madhavan is the common actor in the Tamil and Hindi version that also stars Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan in the leading roles. The movie became a kind of love anthem for youngsters back in the time.
Recently during the promotions of Rocketry, Maddy was questioned on the possible remake of RHTDM. He replied: “I think it’s foolishness, and that’s my opinion. I wouldn’t want to touch that. I wouldn’t do it as a producer. I wish them all the very best from the bottom of my heart, I do.”
Adding more to his thoughts, Maddy said, “And I hope they surprise, because nothing in the industry can actually be predicted but it has a lot of memories attached to it for a lot of people. For the audiences, it is more than a movie. It is sort of an anthem in some ways. It’s like almost saying that 15 years from now you want to remake 3 Idiots. I don’t think it’s a sensible… let me just put it again – I think it’s a brave decision.”
However, he suggested two leading names from the industry that can be roped into the cast if the movie is to be remade. Against his will of RHTDM remake, he advised Kartik Aryan and Alia Bhatt. So Kartik and Alia may replace the original Maddy and Reena played by Madhavan and Dia respectively in the iconic film.
When asked for the dream cast of the RHTDM remake, the actor said: “I don’t think the film will be made, but I don’t know who else I will cast. But maybe, Kartik (Aaryan), Alia Bhatt maybe.”
On the work front, R Madhavan is gearing up for his first directorial movie Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which is the story of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. The biographical movie is set to hit the big screens on 1st July 2022.
