R Madhavan has no plans to direct movies after his directorial debut Rocketry: The Nambi Effect

R Madhavan has a successful career as an actor he has now stepped into director’s shoes with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The upcoming movie is supposed to be his first and last directorial movie. Rocketry marks the directorial debut of actor Maddy, however, he suggests no more films he will direct in the future. R Madhavan has said that he will quit directing after his upcoming movie on the life of scientist Nambi Narayan. 

The 3 idiots actor has no immediate plans on directing anytime soon and mentioned his wife Sarita wants him to focus on acting. Madhavan added that he chose to direct Rocketry because Nambi Narayan wanted him to take up the job. However, he will further focus on acting as he finds the process of directing very exhausting. R Madhavan has not only just donned the hat of the director but he also acted and wrote the script of the biopic film.

Speaking about taking up a project as director, he said: “I don’t think I have it in me to direct again. It’s an exhausting process and I have no immediate plans as such to direct. Even with Rocketry, since the original director attached with the film had to exit the project due to his prior commitments, I took up the mantle as I didn’t have time to approach anyone else. Mr. Nambi believed in me and he pushed me to take up the job and I thought it was my duty to do it.”

R Madhavan revealed that his wife Sarita wants him to focus on acting after confirming that he will quit directing. He said: “My wife wants me to focus on acting for now. I’m no Mani Ratnam to confidently make films in different genres. I don’t think I can do it. If I have to direct again, then a story should really move me.”

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is based on the life of a former rocket scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) ‘Nambi Narayanan’ who was falsely charged with espionage and was arrested in 1994. It is a pan-India film to be released in multiple languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. 

The directorial debut of actor Maddy has been shot in India, France, Canada, Georgia, and Serbia. The movie is slated to release on 1st July 2022. The biographical drama will star R Madhavan, Phyllis Logan, Vincent Riotta, Ron Donaiche, Simran, Rajit Kapur, Ravi Raghavendra, Misha Ghoshal, Gulshan Grover, Karthik Kumar and Dinesh Prabhakar.
