India is on deck to conduct the general election in 2024 within the next few months. Though the entire nation undoubtedly knows the winner of this power battle, there have been unnecessary attempts to vaunt power through various mediums. Movies are one such medium as the majority of the audiences easily get influenced by movies. Now, if you keenly observe the movies which were released from January 2024 and which are set to release in the next two months, you will find a pattern in those movies, a pattern which promotes the existing government in India. One may call it coincidence, but others may find it as government propaganda.
“Razakar”, “Accident or Conspiracy Godhra”, “The Sabarmati Report” and “Sawatantrya Veer Savarkar” these are the movies which will release in-between March and May. “Razakar” will be released on March 15. Randeep Hooda’s “Swatantryaveer Sawarkar” will release on 22nd March. “Accident or Conspiracy Godhra” directed by M. K. Shivaaksh and Vikrant Massey starrer “The Sabarmati Report” directed by Ranjan Chandel, these movies are based on the same incident. Well, there is no release date announced for the former and the latter one will be released on May 3.
Godhra riots are considered as one of the worst scenes in India after independence. For the unversed, 2 bogies of Sabarmati express were set ablaze and nearly 60 Hindu people died. It was a communal riot between Hindus and Muslims. When this incident happened in Gujarat, PM Modi was serving the post of Chief Minister, and then he led inquiries into the matter. Both the movies are directly connected to the ruling party government and the prime minister. There is no skepticism about the knowledge and the entertainment movies will provide. Both movies will make the audience curious to know more about the incident, or it may dominate that specific audience which always gets influenced by cinema.
Razakar: The Silent Genocide of Hyderabad, a movie starring Makarand Deshpande and Raj Arjun, is a Telugu movie and will release in Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi languages. This movie depicts the story of the Hyderabad Liberation Movement 1948. Brutal Hindu Muslim riots which happened during that movement may add on to ongoing Hindu Muslim fights which happened due to the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony.
Even the Randeep Hooda starrer Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, directed by himself, talks about the black water punishment and Savarkar’s endless efforts for India’s independence, but somehow it will create detestation amongst the audience about Congress government and will inculcate the feeling of extra Hindutva amongst the youth which is not incorrect but can be harmful as it may influence their ideology.
Now you may call this a perfect collaboration or stroke of luck. Apart from this, there are two more movies which have already been released. On February 23, Yami Gautam starrer “Article 370” was released. This movie received appreciation from many critics. It deftly depicts the details of removal of article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. But this movie has put many question marks by coinciding its time with the pre-election era.
Pankaj Tripathi’s movie “Main Atal Hoon” was released just 2 days before the Ram Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 19. Everyone knows this movie is a biopic of the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He is the one who established the Bharatiya Janata Party. Thus, the movie eventually ends up being a flatterer of a specific political party. Intentions may be anything but enjoy the stuff from an entertainment perspective.
