Maharashtra Bhushan 2023 To Confer To Veteran Actor Ashok Saraf Having A 55-year-Long Journey In Film Industry 

"Singham" actor Ashok Saraf will be conferred with Maharashtra Bhushan 2023 award for his extraordinary contribution in film industry.

Veteran actor Ashok Saraf, popularly known as Ashok Mama, will soon be conferred with the highest civilian award in Maharashtra state, “Maharashtra Bhushan”. The announcement was made by the Maharashtra government on January 30, 2024. Ashok Saraf is a big name in the Marathi film industry and this actor has appeared in many Hindi films too. He has been working in the industry for the last 55 years and has worked in more than 250 Marathi movies. He expressed his elation at this honor, but he said that an actor always has to be unsatisfied with his work because then he will try new things. 

Ashok Saraf has given many blockbuster films in Marathi, like “Ek Daav Bhutacha”, “Gammat Jammat”, “Ashi Hi Banwa Banvi”, “Bin Kamacha Navra”, “Chaukat Raja”, “Shejari Shejari” and some of his recent movies include “Ved”, “Me Shivaji Park”, “Vrundavan” etc. He not only contributed on the Marathi screen, but this comedy actor showcased his versatile acting skills in Bollywood movies, like “Karan Arjun”, “Beti No 1”, “Singham”, “Joru Ka Ghulam”, “Bade Ghar Ki Beti”, “Yess Boss”, “Pyarr Kiya To Darna Kya” and many more. 

He got a lot of recognition in Hindi households through the Hindi television series “Hum Paanch”, aired in the year 1995. The first season went on for almost 5 years and later in the year 2005, character Anand Mathur returned with the second season of this serial. 

The 74-year-old actor is still entertaining people with different shades of his acting skills. He expressed his gratitude towards his fans and audiences for showering so much love and thanked the Maharashtra government for ‘Maharashtra Bhushan 2023’. Last time this award was conferred to Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari for his contribution to social work.
