An old interview featuring the legendary Lata Mangeshkar has resurfaced on social media which has left fans amazed and intrigued. In a candid conversation with Javed Akhtar, the musical genius shared her thoughts on the concept of rebirth.
In the now-viral video clip, Lata Mangeshkar spoke about the idea of being reborn, expressing a rather unconventional view. She declared, “Naa hi janam miley toh acha hain aur agar wakayi janam mila mujhe toh main Lata Mangeshkar banna nahi chahungi (I don’t want to be reborn again. But if I do, I don’t want to be reborn as Lata Mangeshkar).” This revelation left Akhtar visibly puzzled, prompting him to inquire why she felt that way. With a serene smile, the legendary singer responded, “Lata Mangeshkar ki jo taqleefein hain wo usko hi pata hain (Lata Mangeshkar’s problems are known only to her).”
The mystery behind her statement remains unsolved, as there is no clear explanation for her unique perspective on rebirth. However, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha once shed some light on the sacrifices made by Lata Mangeshkar in her personal life. Sinha, who had long been an admirer of the singing sensation and shared a friendly relationship with her, revealed that she had “sacrificed her marriage for her family.” He emphasized that she was greatly admired for the sacrifices she made on behalf of her loved ones, underscoring the deep respect and affection people held for her.
This now-viral interview has brought forth a different side of Lata Mangeshkar, showcasing her complexity as a person beyond her musical talents. Lata Mangeshkar passed away on 6 February 2022 at the age of 92.
