‘Lal Salaam’ is a slogan created by ‘Communists’ in the Indian Subcontinent, A symbol of salute, greetings or code word used by comrades of South Asia: where Lal means “Red” in Hindi and Salam means “Peace” in Arabic.

The political drama directed by ‘Venu Nagavalli’ was produced under the prominent ‘K. R. G.’ banner. It stars Mohanlal, Murali, Geetha, and Urvashi. Emerging as a blockbuster the movie graced a 150 days run at 7 centres after its release.

Another film with the exact same title ‘Lal Salaam’, was created in 2002- A Bollywood musical action drama starring ‘Nandita Das’, ‘Sharad Kapoor’, ‘Raj Pal Yadav’ and ‘Sayaji Shinde’. Directed by ‘Gagan Vihari Borate’, the movie was premiered on 3rd May 2002. Revolving around the life of ‘Rupi’ and ‘Kanna’ a childhood couple, where Rupi realises that the village tribes are main victims of police brutality and the government is unresponsive and unreachable, resulting in making poor people armed rebels. Whereas, Kanna is an intelligent-educated student studying MBBS who believes in non-violence.
