Kanika Kapoor On Her Previous ‘Failed’ Marriage And Why She Moved On!

Kanika Kapoor, recently tied the knot for the second time, here's here talking about her failed first marriage and how she moved on!

Singer Kanika Kapoor and boyfriend Gautam Hathiramani, in the presence of family and friends, tied the knot on Friday in London. The singer took to her social media handed to share pictures and stories of her wedding with Gautam, who is a businessman by profession, as her other friends from the industry poured in love and congratulatory messages for the newlyweds. For the unversed, Kanika had previously been married to Raj Chandok, but the couple had parted ways in 2015.

Kanika, who was only 18 when she got hitched to NRI Raj, was not known to the public at the time of her wedding. The couple share 3 kids, Aayana, Samara And Yuvraaj together but it was in 2015 when Kanika realised she should part ways with her now estranged husband after she had caught him cheating on her. It was after this incident that the ‘baby doll’ singer got divorced and started focusing on her singing career, which rather came fruitful after she delivered back to back hits, making her one of the most popular singers in Bollywood in no time.

Although up until a few months back, Kanika had not confirmed dating Gautham, she did hint at getting married again. “We are all looking for love. Love is important- not just from your boyfriend and husband but also from all your near and dear ones.” she said. She also shared about her first failed marriage and revealed how she had to start working for her kids, “My parents told me not to crib about who was right and who was wrong and that helped me to move on. Financial independence gives you self-respect and I needed that. It wasn’t easy initially- but it all settled down beautifully.”

She even revealed how she had suicidal thoughts but despite the hardships, she moved on. “I am thankful that God gave me the strength to get up, be a single mother, and restart my life when people were throwing stones at me. I believe that you should just work hard, and things will happen. Time is never wasted. It happens when you have no money, are going through a bad divorce, and the lawyers are squeezing you to the limit. Plus, you have three kids, who have been thrown out of school because you haven’t paid the fees. Then, you fall sick. You hit a low and feel that there is nothing left. But, at the time, I got a lot of support from my mother, my brother and a few friends.”
