On the 25th year anniversary to celebrate the most cult classic Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) not just in India but also globally, Kajol shares unknown facts to mark 25 years of DDLJ and also opens up in detail about why this film is evergreen and timeless along with the main reason of being the most loved and successful romantic love saga film in the history of our Indian cinema.
DDLJ which had been written and directed by debutante director Aditya Chopra, has many records to its credits of being one of the most loved and all time block buster film in our Indian cinema and is also still relevant even today along with being lauded and loved by the fans globally as one of the best romantic films ever made by our Bollywood film industry and also still is one of the most longest successfully running films of all time as it has been playing in the film theatres for 25 years now.
Opening up about her feeling on being a part of DDLJ in a recent interview with a digital entertainment website she said, “I think DDLJ is timeless because everybody identifies somewhere down the line with Simran and with Raj. I think they just like these characters a lot! They have liked them for years and years now and it’s one of those things that you always like and probably will always like”.
It was Kajol’s character portrayal of Simran where by the audiences saw her as a strong independent woman who was a mix of both being traditional and modern in her thinking and outlook towards life which is relevant to every one even today.
During a recent interview with a digital entertainment website, when Kajol was asked about the same she said, “I thought Simran was a little boring to be honest, but I recognized her. I realized there is a lot of Simran in almost everybody we know, there is always that wanting to do the right thing in someone. Lot of people don’t do the right thing but we always want to do that. You want to get that approval, you want to get that feeling of you are approved of and that you are doing something right in the world. So, yes Simran was like that. I thought she was just cool, a little old-fashioned but cool”.
She also spoke in detail about the director Aditya Chopra, whose directorial debut DDLJ became a globally redefining cult timeless film that defines our Indian cinema today and went on to get this unconditional massive love globally from all parts of the world.
She said, “I think what sets Adi apart is probably his conviction. He is very, very convinced of what he is making and doesn’t take on a project if he isn’t absolutely convinced about it. That really is what sets him apart. He is not willing to let go off that basic core conviction that he has in his characters and he knows them best”.
Shah Rukh and Kajol are the eternal #RajSimran of Bollywood who have made millions of fans and people fall in love with romance and this all started with DDLJ.
Kajol during a recent interview with a digital entertainment portal when asked what she loved about Simran told, “We were shooting for DDLJ and we never thought that we were making this! We just thought we were going to make a really cool film together and hopefully, it will be a hit film and we were all crossing our fingers that the music will do well etc. but I don’t think anyone of us ever realized the kind of impact DDLJ would have on people when they saw it”.
This romantic love saga which had been written and directed by debutant Aditya Chopra, completely just broke and shattered all the indian and global box office records till date along with being one of the biggest all time blockbuster movies in the history of Hindi cinema where later DDLJ, also went on to become the longest running Hindi film of all times which is relevant even today.
DDLJ is the only Indian movie, which has created a new history by winning the record-breaking 10 Indian Filmfare Awards and it was with this film that the global face of Bollywood got changed completely.
