Jersey Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor’s Film Makes A Slow Start Amid KGF 2 Buzz

After repeated delays, Shahid Kapoor-Mrunal Thakur’s much-awaited film Jersey was released in theatres on 22 April worldwide. Directed by Gautam Tinnanuri, the movie is a remake of an award-winning Telugu film by the same name, which starred actor Nani as the lead.

Jersey Box Office Collection- Day 1:

The much-anticipated movie started slow on its first day at the box office. The movie has collected Rs.3.60 to 4.00 crores on its opening day. The film faced tough competition from KGF 2 starring Yash which earned Rs 11.56 crore in its Hindi version. KGF 2 will soon enter the Rs 300 crore club this weekend. It seems to be a slow weekend for Jersey.

Movie critic Taran Adarsh tweeted on his Twitter handle, “#KGF2 continues its Blockbuster run… Remains first choice of moviegoers, despite a new release [#Jersey]… Expect major growth on [second] Sat and Sun… Will join ₹ 300 cr Club on [second] Sat/Sun… [Week 2] Fri 11.56 cr. Total: ₹ 280.19 cr. #India biz. #Hindi,”.

While on the good part, Jersey has already recovered its costs from satellite and music rights as is the case with most recent releases. The movie has received a positive response from critics and audiences with a section of netizens even calling it the actor’s career-best performance.

Even, the original Arjun of ‘Jersey’, Nani praised the film in a tweet. “Watched #Jersey and out @Gowtam19 again hit it out of the park. What performances and heart. #Shahidkapoor @Mrunal0801 <3 #Pankakapoor sir /\ and my boy Ronit <3 This is a true good cinema. Congratulations @theamangill @Alluents @DilrajuPodctns @SitharaEnts @Penmovies,” he wrote.
