The much-awaited trailer of ‘Jersey’ was dropped yesterday and it has been the talk of the town since then. A remake of the Telugu film with the same name, it stars Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. The film revolves around cricket.
During the trailer launch event, Jersey actor Shahid Kapoor was asked by a reporter, “Who is your all-time favourite cricketer and why?”
To this, Shahid Kapoor replied, “Sachin Tendulkar and I don’t have to give a why for it. I have grown up watching him play. For me, he has been the biggest persona all over the country. He is exceptional.”
Film’s leading actress Mrunal Thakur also talked about her love for cricket and why she said yes to the film. She told, “Not many people know that I used to play cricket with my brother and we used to go to watch the matches including World Cup and T20. I remember going to Kolkata because we were supporting the team. It was an overwhelming experience to even sit in the stadium and watch your team play. When I first watched Jersey (Telugu film), I knew I was gonna play Vidya, but how? Firstly, it is very difficult. I was very scared. But for the love of cricket, I said yes to the film.”
Jersey will release in theatres on Dec 31, 2021.
