The elite of Bollywood attended the three-day pre-wedding celebration of Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar last weekend. However, a notable absence from the festivities was celebrity wedding regular, Karan Johar. According to an India Today report, the reason behind the filmmaker’s absence from the Jamnagar event has been revealed.
As per the reports, Karan was invited to the pre-wedding celebration and had plans to perform on stage. He was set to dance alongside costume designer and longtime partner Manish Malhotra, and they even practiced together. However, at the last moment, Karan fell ill with a viral fever and sore throat. Consequently, he chose to remain in Mumbai for health reasons.
Afterward, Manish proceeded to perform on stage with Gen-Z celebrities Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and Khushi Kapoor. Together, they danced to ‘Bole Chudiyan,’ the famous dance track from Karan’s 2001 blockbuster family drama ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.’
Karan Johar Congratulates Anant Ambani And Radhika Merchant
Although the filmmaker couldn’t attend the pre-wedding bash, he congratulated the couple on Instagram. Sharing a video featuring Radhika and Anant, Karan wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to Anant and @radhikamerchant! The celebrations were not only deeply immersed in warmth, family bonds and immense love but so beautifully resonant of our glorious Indian traditions…The pre wedding festivities are a testament to the love the family has in everyone’s hearts! My deepest love to Nita Bhabhi, Mukesh Bhai, @aambani1 and @shloka11, @_iiishmagish & @anandpiramal. And so much love to Radhika and Anant dil se…Badhai ho!”
For the unversed, Karan Johar had previously attended Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding in 2019.
