Fardeen Khan On Making His Acting Comeback After 14 Years With Heeramandi

During the trailer launch event, Fardeen Khan opened up about taking a 14-year hiatus from acting and making his comeback with Heeramandi.

Heeramandi: Fardeen Khan is set to return to acting after a 14-year hiatus with a Netflix series directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Khan’s last appearance was in the 2010 film Dulha Mil Gaya. Following a string of box office disappointments, he took a break from acting. However, at the recent trailer launch event of Heeramandi, he shared insights about resuming his acting career after 14 years.

Recently, the makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s project, Heeramandi, unveiled the poster, revealing that Fardeen Khan will portray the character of Wali Mohammed alongside Manisha Koirala and Sonakshi Sinha. At the trailer launch event yesterday, Fardeen expressed gratitude to Netflix and Bhansali for the opportunity to return to acting after 14 years. He described it as a significant chance to make his comeback on screen as an actor.

Fardeen said, “It’s been a very long gap for me, it’s been almost about 14 years. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity to work with this stellar star cast and a platform like Netflix and of course the man himself, Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”

Fardeen expressed that initially, working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali seemed daunting. However, upon witnessing Bhansali’s character writing and vision, everything fell into place. Despite his age, Fardeen feels confident in his ability to contribute to the beautifully written character of Wali Mohammed.

Following his hiatus from acting, Fardeen Khan faced significant criticism for gaining nearly 18 kilograms, appearing on the bulkier side. However, he embraced the criticism positively, shed the excess weight, and has since returned to his lean and fit appearance.
