Amidst Boycott Pathaan Trends, Shah Rukh Khan Reacts To Social Media Negativity

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan recently addressed the social media negativity amidst the ongoing boycott trends against his film Pathaan.

Pathaan: On Thursday Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan recently made an appearance at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2022 (KIFF). During his appearance at the festival, the actor delivered a speech on the negativity surfacing on social media these days.

Addressing the topic of social media negativity Shah Rukh said, “The collective narratives of our times are shaped by social media. Contrary to the belief that the spread of social media will affect cinema negatively, I believe cinema has an even more important role to play now. Social media is often driven by a certain narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self. And it’s somewhere that negativity increases social media consumption and thereby increases its commercial value as well. Such pursuits enclose the collective narrative making it divisive and destructive.”

Talking about positivity among his fans the actor concluded his speech saying, “The world has become normal. We are all happy, I am the happiest. And I have no objection in stating that duniya kuch bhi kar le, main aur aap log aur jitney bhi positive log hain sab ke sab, zinda hain (me, you all and all the positive people are alive).”

For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathaan has been facing extreme backlash for its song “Besharam Rang”. Apparently, a segment of netizens have claimed that the song features “vulgar visuals”. Many politicians even expressed their discontent over the use of saffron color in Deepika Padukone’s outfits. Many people even demanded a ban on the film.

Recently state home minister Narottam Mishra expressed his discontent over Deepika Padukone’s “Saffron” colored outfits in Pathaan’s song “Besharam Rang”. He said, “Actress Deepika Padukone’s costume is highly objectionable and the song has been shot with a dirty mindset. The scenes and costumes of the songs should be changed, or we will have to take a decision on ist screening in Madhya Pradesh,”
