Alia Bhatt received the 69th National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ on October 17th. She was presented with the award by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. She was accompanied by her husband, Ranbir Kapoor.
However, what caught the attention of social media users was a viral picture in which she was seen planting a kiss on Ranbir’s cheek. This action didn’t sit well with netizens, and they began trolling the actress.
One user wrote, “This is not the appropriate place for such behavior.”
Another added, “This is all happening in Vigyan Bhawan. Sharam hei in logon ko?”.
Yet another user commented, “They shouldn’t be doing this in front of the President of India. Alia’s lack of sensibility isn’t surprising, but Ranbir should have more discretion.”
Regarding the event, the actress wore her wedding saree designed by Sabyasachi, while Ranbir opted for a black bandhgala. Alia shared some pictures from the event on her social media account.
The event was star-studded, with South superstar Allu Arjun receiving the Best Actor Award for ‘Pushpa: The Rise.’ Additionally, actress Kriti Sanon was awarded the Best Actress for her role in the film ‘Mimi,’ where she played a surrogate mother. On the red carpet, she expressed feeling “blessed and fortunate” to have portrayed such a multifaceted character, stating that it “felt right” even before filming began.
R. Madhavan accepted the Best Feature Film award for ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,’ a film he directed. On the red carpet, he exclaimed, “My God, it’s been worth it.”
Meanwhile, Alia is set to appear in director Vasan Bala’s upcoming film ‘Jigra,’ which she is also producing. ‘Jigra’ is scheduled to hit theaters on September 27, 2024.
