Adipurush is a mythological film based on the epic Hindu saga Ramayana. The film is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series. Allegedly made with a budget of Rs 500 crore, it is said to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The film features Telugu superstar Prabhas as Lord Ram. Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon is seen playing the role of Janaki (Maa Sita). Saif Ali Khan turns antagonist as he plays Ravana while Sunny Singh is seen in the role of Lakshman. Though Adipurush is made on the Hindu mythological scripture Ramayana, the Hindu audience has polarised views on the film. While some are excited about the film since the beginning, others have criticized it for various reasons. Poor VFX, cheap dialogues, alleged “Islamification” of Ramayan, wrong-casting, and sensuous portrayal of Maa Sita are some of the many reasons cited by the netizens while criticizing the film. Adipurush has been shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. It has also been dubbed in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
