Actor Satish Shah, the veteran artist who brought joy, humour and unforgettable characters to Indian television and cinema passed away on Saturday, October 25 at around 2:30 pm. The actor breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.

As per India Today reports, his funeral will be held on Sunday, October 26 . Satish Shah was known for his remarkable performances in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Bhootnath, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Na and many more. His comic timing and versatility made him one of the most loved faces in the industry, admired across generations.

Health Struggles Satish Shah Quietly Fought

Last year, in an exclusive conversation with Lehren, Satish Shah had opened up about his health concerns with senior journalist Bharathi S Pradhan. She had shared, “In response to one of my messages a few weeks ago, Satish told me he was unwell. So I went to his place in Bandra East to see him and his wife, Madhu. He’s been highly diabetic for several years and had been ignoring his health. It led to complications, and he’s been on kidney dialysis three times a week.”

And further added, “It is true that Satish stopped signing films quite some time ago because of his health. His condition had been a cause of concern for us friends who’ve known him for a very long time, since the time of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.”

Mourning the loss of his dearest friend, veteran actor Rakesh Bedi shared an emotional video expressing his heartbreak on social media. Captioning the post, he wrote, “RIP bro Satish Shah. A great actor and a very, very dear friend. 🙏🙏” The two had been friends since their FTII days and had worked together in several films.

Actor Satish Shah was last seen in August 2024, during a heartfelt reunion with his Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-stars. Even in his later years, his presence lit up every gathering, leaving fans nostalgic for the warmth and wit he brought to his roles. His passing marks the end of an era for Indian comedy — a reminder of the golden days of television and cinema where characters were remembered not just for laughs but for their lasting impact.
