Action Taken By Movie Artists Association On Trollers, 25 YouTubers Terminated For Negative Video Content

Trollers, beware – The Movie Artists Association (MAA) has finally cracked down 25 digital content creators, with more actions to follow in coming days.

More than a week ago, a derogatory video by Telugu YouTuber P Hanumanthu went viral on social media, attracting widespread attention across the Telugu-speaking regions. The video, which featured Hanumanthu and his friends making demeaning comments about a father-daughter relationship, offended many viewers and prompted immediate calls for action from celebrities, state Chief Ministers and the Tollywood industry’s Movie Artists Association (MAA).

In response, MAA President Vishnu Manchu few days ago addressed the issue in a video message, highlighting the importance of upholding Telugu cultural values and promising to tackle such harmful digital content. Manchu had promised to personally sit with YouTube to review and address these creators.

At a recent conference, MAA members including Siva Balaji and Rajeev Kanakala announced that they have begun implementing their plan. They revealed that 25 YouTube accounts associated with negative content have been terminated and the matter has been handed over to the Director General of Police (DGP) for further action. This marks the beginning of a broader initiative aimed at combating harmful online content.

The MAA’s efforts do not end with these 25 accounts. The association plans to continue its crackdown by targeting an additional 200 YouTube channels that post negative content about movies and celebrities. This initiative highlights the growing challenge of social media trolling and the MAA’s commitment to addressing it.

Siva Balaji also highlighted how, during childhood, elders would immediately react and say that making negative comments was wrong. However, with the rise of social media, many now justify such behavior by calling it dark humor and questioning what’s wrong with it, even if they feel ashamed. Digital creators have found it easy to make excuses and normalize harmful content by labeling it as dark humor.

The action taken by MAA serves as a model for other industry bodies and officials to follow. By addressing harmful digital content, MAA is setting a precedent for how cultural and ethical concerns can be tackled in the digital age. This move not only aims to reduce the impact of such content but also inspires a broader movement towards respectful and responsible online behavior across various regions and platforms.
