A24, a studio known for its special and interesting films, has bought the U.S. rights for ‘Pillion’. This new movie, which combines humor and heartfelt moments, stars Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling. It is the first feature film directed by Harry Lighton, who was praised for his short film ‘Wren Boys’.
Pillion follows Colin, a shy and introverted character played by Melling. His life changes when he meets Ray, played by Skarsgård, who is the charming leader of a motorcycle club. Ray introduces Colin to a vibrant world of queer bikers, helping him explore their unique lifestyles. As Colin gets deeper into this new world, he begins to question his own choices in life. The film looks at themes of identity and belonging, making it a meaningful watch for those who enjoy stories that challenge social norms.
The script for Pillion is based on Adam Mars-Jones’ book Box Hill, which won the 2019 Fitzcarraldo Editions Nobel Prize. The movie is produced by Element Pictures, a company known for telling innovative stories, with support from BBC Film and BFI. The production team includes cinematographer Nick Morris and BIFA Award-winning costume designer Grace Snell.
‘Pillion’ recently finished production and is already creating buzz in the film community, especially after being introduced at the Cannes market. A24 is well-known for making award-winning films and Pillion is expected to connect with audiences looking for fresh and interesting stories. As we await its release, it’s clear that A24 continues to support unique films in the cinema world.
