Sadie Sink, famous for her role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, is said to be joining the cast of Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland. Although her specific character has not been revealed yet, rumors indicate she might portray X-Men’s Jean Grey or a different version of MJ, which was originally played by Zendaya. This role is anticipated to be significant, particularly after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Peter Parker’s identity was erased due to Doctor Strange’s spell. Earlier reports suggested that Sink was a strong candidate to take on the role of Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but details about her potential involvement were unclear. With this recent update, the idea of her stepping into the iconic role has generated a lot of excitement.
Deadline reported, “If Sink doesn’t play Grey, she might “show up as another beloved redheaded Spider Man character.” On the other hand, reports also hint that Holland’s previous co-stars will have shorter roles in the upcoming MCU project, while new actors will be in the spotlight. Holland is currently in Greece filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, alongside his ladylove Zendaya. Once he wraps up that project, he is expected to begin shooting for Marvel by the end of this year.
Hollywood insider Jeff said that, “Sadie Sink is in line to be Jean Grey. I think it makes sense with her being in Stranger Things. Stranger Things wrapping up next year, her schedule is pretty free after that. Those kids are gonna be red hot and Marvel chases heat. I think that she’s a talented actress and someone who Marvel probably is down to be committed to for the long term. When I heard it, I was like, ‘Who cast her?’ because there’s no director on X-Men but I think that the Russo brothers are casting Doomsday and probably Secret Wars. Those movies are being shot back to back.”
Sadie Sink will be first seen in the final season of Stranger Things, O’Dessa and the Broadway play John Proctor Is the Villain, after which she will star working for Spiderman: 4.
