The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has intensified its probe into the controversy surrounding the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. Actor Rakhi Sawant has been summoned to appear before authorities on February 27 to record her statement. The investigation stems from a case against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, whose remarks on the show sparked outrage.
Ashish Chanchlani and Ranveer Allahbadia have also been asked to appear on February 24 as part of the ongoing inquiry. The authorities are scrutinizing individuals associated with the show including its creator and comedian Samay Raina.
The controversy began when Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate comment on an episode of India’s Got Latent. His remark led to multiple complaints, prompting the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to take action. FIRs have been filed in several states, including Maharashtra and Assam. Following the backlash, the authorities ordered the removal of all videos related to the case and temporarily deactivated the show’s account.
Samay Raina, the show’s host was initially summoned to record his statement on February 18. However, after failing to appear he was issued a second summons. His request for an extension until March 17 was denied, with officials insisting on an in-person statement.The Supreme Court recently granted interim protection from arrest to Ranveer Allahbadia while condemning his remarks. Meanwhile, Ashish Chanchlani has sought legal relief asking for the FIRs against him to be combined.
In a twist of events, Rakhi Sawant who has been summoned now recently she came in support for Ranveer Allahbadia on social media, asking the public to forgive him. Despite this, she is now required to provide her statement as part of the investigation.
