Abhijeet criticized Rahman, asserting that the composer was responsible for promoting a shift away from live musicians in the industry. In response, Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman addressed the singer’s remarks on Tuesday, which claimed that Rahman’s influence had caused an over-reliance on technology, resulting in a decrease in live instrumentation.

In a conversation with India Today, Rahman remarked, “It’s easy to hold me accountable for everything. I still have affection for Abhijeet and would even send him cakes. His perspective is valid, and there is nothing wrong with expressing it.

” To counter Abhijeet’s assertions, the composer elaborated on his recent initiative of establishing an orchestra comprising 60 women in Dubai. “They receive monthly employment along with health insurance and other benefits.”

In every project I undertake, whether it’s Chhaava or Ponniyin Selvan, I involve approximately 200-300 musicians, with some tracks featuring over 100 contributors. I don’t seek to showcase this or share photos with them, which is why it often goes unnoticed.

The composer remarked that he utilizes computers as “a means to create exceptional harmonies,” emphasizing that he cannot afford to hire musicians to perform those melodies only to later discard them. “All rejections should occur during the preliminary stages, while all final recordings are done live. Anyone can verify with the producers I have collaborated with regarding the number of musicians involved,” the ‘Jai Ho’ singer stated with a smile.

In a recent interview with ANI, singer Abhijeet criticized Rahman, claiming that the composer has been instrumental in persuading the industry to move away from using live musicians. “The musicians who used to perform in films are now unemployed—largely due to Mr. Rahman. He has informed everyone that there is no need for musicians… everything can be accomplished on a laptop,” Abhijeet expressed.
