Amid the ongoing row over his controversial remark at comic Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia submitted written apologies to the National Commission for Women (NCW) along with content creator and social media personality Apoorva Mukhija on Friday.
Ranveer Allahabadia, Apoorva Makhija, and two show producers Saurabh Bothra and Tushar Poojari appeared before the NCW on Thursday and were quizzed for hours. The women’s panel had initially summoned them last month. However, Mr Allahbadia sought a three-week extension, citing death threats as a reason for not attending the initial hearing. The panel granted his request and scheduled a new hearing date for the month of March.
As informed by the Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said, “The four people appeared before the Commission yesterday. The obscene language they used in the show is absolutely indecent. Commission will never accept it. Using such language is acceptable neither to the people nor to the Commission. I strongly condemn it. Keeping in mind its social impact, NCW immediately took cognisance of it and we issued them notice. In accordance with that, they appeared before the Commission yesterday…When they came yesterday, they expressed regret over their words in the show. They also said that they should not use such words and that they made a mistake…All of them presented apologies before the Commission.“

Allahabadia along with other content creators and influencer in the IGL row, assured NCW that they would be more mindful in the future. “This is the first and last time such a mistake has happened. From now on, I will think carefully and speak with respect toward women,” The influencer under the dig, conveyed that what they have done can not be taken back but they would definitely be taking care of saying anything beyond this in the future.
