South Korean actress Lee Seo-Yi known for her warm presence in K-dramas like The Divorce Insurance, passed away on June 20, 2025 at the age of 43. However, her death was only publicly confirmed 11 days later when her manager Song Seo-Bin shared the news on her official Instagram account on July 1.
The statement posted read as “A radiant, beautiful, kind-hearted sister became a star in the sky on June 20. I share this news with deep sorrow.” The manager also added that he was speaking on behalf of her grieving parents and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
While the exact cause of Lee’s death hasn’t been disclosed, many fans wondered why the news was shared so late. The delay, as suggested by her manager was out of respect for the family’s mourning process. Her loved ones needed time before going public with the news, choosing to honour her memory privately before addressing the public.
Lee Seo-Yi (born Song Soo-Yeon) made her acting debut in 2013 with the historical drama Hur Jun, The Original Story. Over the years, she appeared in shows like Cheongdam-dong Scandal, City of the Sun and Pegasus Market and in films such as The King, Scarlet Innocence and Killing Romance. Her last role was in The Divorce Insurance which aired just weeks before her passing.
Besides acting, she was an academic achiever and a florist who ran her own boutique. Her passing has left a quiet but deep impact on fans and colleagues alike.
