Warner Bros. announced their new venture, an animated musical, Bad Fairies, slated for 2027 release. This project marks a notable collaboration between the creative minds behind the Tony Award-winning musical Six and the indie rock, Florence and The Machine’s Isabella Summers, promising a fresh and exciting addition to the world of animated films.
The film’s music, and lyrics are the brainchild of Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the co-creators of Six. Known for their innovative storytelling and catchy tunes, Marlow and Moss bring their unique style to Bad Fairies. Isabella Summers, who gained fame as a key member ofindie rock, Florence and the Machine, joins the duo to compose the score and as a song producer, adding her distinctive musical flair to the project.
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation are producing the film and the musical-comedy is scheduled to be released on July 23, 2027, at the theatres. Bad Fairies will be directed by Megan Nicole Dong, who previously made Centaurworld (2021), an animated musical series for Netflix. The script will be penned by the host of “The Guilty Feminist” podcast, Deborah Frances-White who also created the popular podcast.

Bad Fairies is the first collaboration between Warner Bros. and Locksmith Animation, both of which an animation prowess, promise a film that will be both visually stunning and musically enchanting, setting a new benchmark in the genre of animated musicals.
