Veteran Actor-Producer Dheeraj Kumar Passes Away At 80 After Battling From Pneumonia

Dheeraj Kumar’s passing marks the end of an era; the actor-producer left behind an incredible legacy across television and films.

Bollywood veteran actor and producer Dheeraj Kumar passes away at the age of 80 on July 15, 2025 in Mumbai. Yesterday, he had been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after suffering severe breathing issues caused by pneumonia. His condition worsened due to multiple organ failure and he was placed on ventilator support before breathing his last around 11AM with family by his side.

Dheeraj Kumar began his journey in the entertainment world 50 years back in 1965 after being a finalist in a talent contest where late superstar Rajesh Khanna emerged as the winner. Further, making his film debut with Raaton Ka Raja (1970) – his career didn’t limit there and went on to appear in major films like Heera Panna, Sargam, Kranti, Behroopia, Roti Kapda Aur Makhan, Shreeman , Raaton Ka Raja and more. Adding on, his indelible work also marks in Punjabi cinema where he acted in 21 movies between 1970 and 1984.

In later years he founded the production house Creative Eye in 1986, which became known for its popular TV shows such as Om Namah Shivay and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann. His work reached millions of households and touched viewers across generations.

The passing of Dheeraj Kumar is a deep loss for Indian cinema and television. His contribution as an actor, director, and producer will continue to be remembered with respect and admiration.
